Time away....be back in a jiffy
I got the news that my uncle passed away after 4 years of battling Alzheimers and failing health. JB, the kids, and I are in Delaware with my family for the funeral which will be today at 2:00.I am so thankful for my sweet family, and I am even more thankful that dying here on earth is not death for eternity......there is hope and peace. Please keep my family in your prayers....especially my Aunt Barbara {my namesake} as she says goodbye to her love....... xo,Barb

It has been a super busy week of cleaning and prepping the new studio, packing the old studio, and then moving everything over to the new studio. I would be lying if I did not admit to being a little sore......and tired.....and a bit slap happy.........but when you have friends who not only come to help you scrub your concrete floors, and do whatever else you need done......plus bring a hand thrown vase {made by her hands}, with a succulent garden, and a tiny little knack studio ceramic house.........it makes you forget about everything else....and be so thankful for beautiful friends and loved ones.I am beyond blessed. This beautiful gift was made especially for me by my friend Jen of Crave Pottery.xo,Barb

Sorry....no furniture today! Right now every single second is being spent on cleaning the new studio and preparing it for the big move this week! I decided to seal the original brick wall in the back workspace because the mortar is a bit powdery and crumbly. Please believe me when I say it was a complete test of my ever loving sanctification.... and I may have totally threw the roller across the room...{mother, please avert your eyes! I know you did not raise me this way}...but I swear it was only once! However, when I walked back into the space the next day, I had calmed down muchly, and when I ran my fingers across the brick and mortar to the tune of no crumbly mortar....I am now very glad that I persevered. {cough, cough!}I also decided that I wanted to paint and seal the raw concrete floor in the workspace to once again cut down on the dust, make it easier to sweep and clean, and I just love starting fresh with a nice clean floor. It certainly will not stay perfect for too long.....but it will be sealed, and create less dust. I totally ran out of paint when we were about 3/4 of the way done so we did not get to finish! The concrete was so porous, it just soaked up the paint like a sponge. Never fear though, because by the time you read this... my son and I will probably already have been to the paint store and will be finishing up the floors!I am really, really looking forward to this week. Everything should be all moved into the new studio by Thursday,{not organized....but moved!} the old studio will get a thorough cleaning, and then I will head to ATL on Friday with a couple of my pals for a weekend of shopping and picking out lovely things for the new shop!I have the shop windows all covered in paper so that sneaky peaky little eyes will not be able to see all of the goodness until it is all set and ready! Stay tuned!P.S. The floor and patio paint by Benjamin Moore is totally dreamy and creamy. So easy to apply, and you can have it mixed in any color you want. I chose "dragon's breath"......and it is such a beautiful graphite gray color. I will take more photos when the floor is completely done with more light, so you can get a better feel for the difference it has made in the space. Yay!xo,Barb

We are smack dab in the middle of our guest bathroom redo, and I have been hunting for a light fixture to use in the bathroom. The tile on the walls will be white subway tile with gray grout, and the floor will be white penny tile with gray grout. I am painting the current vanity {imagine that?!} which will also get a spiffy new top in either a solid white or white and gray marble. The mirror will be recycled pine.......so everything is looking pretty bright white, modern, and neutral.....and I wanted a pop of color that would be timeless yet fun. It just has to be there somewhere!I came across....or found.... this fantastic site.... Barn Light Electric.....and oh my goodness they have some really fun and beautiful stuff to look at! I think the cobalt blue light above is calling my name for sure......but the yellow one caught my eye first. I am waffling on my decision....but it will be one of these two beauties. Any thoughts or opinions?xo,Barb

I know that you all want to see a furniture makeover today....but last week was such a roller coaster ride that I only dibbled and dabbled in starting a few things and finished not a one of them! I am totally ok with what went down, and I am also ok with the fact that you may or may not be upset that there is a break in the eye candy.....we are just going to roll with the punches this week! The chair pictured above is a custom job that I am thrilled to be working on for a really talented husband and wife artist team. I think for the big reveal of this piece I want to shoot it with one of their pieces of artwork hanging behind it on the wall.......they are so talented......seriously.....and I promise to show you.Miss "S" had seen this chair that I did last year, and decided that she had to have it! ......However, when she went back to purchase it, it had already been scooped up! Miss "S" could not get Woodington out of her mind, so she searched and searched for the perfect chair that she could have me work some Woodington magic on....and this chair is what she found. Pretty great right?! Luckily, I had previously stocked up on this fantastic fabric, and so we are totally good to go!I will have two chairs to show you this week and next. One is muted, gildy, and elegant and the other is fun, fantastic, and modern. Coming soon!{also, exciting news about the new studio as it unfolds....but for now I am in the world of many phone calls and changes that need to be made in order to get this ball rolling!}Hope you have a great day today!xo,Barb
