I absolutely love these tags that I discovered on the elli blog! I am totally going to be printing some off for myself and using them for gifts and treats! I love the graphics and am always a sucker for chalkboard drawings!I hope you all have had a wonderful week! It has been an extra special week for me as I found out that my book, Furniture Makeovers, has been picked up by Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters! Introductions: More Stripes, and another sneak peek at the Knack book
On Saturday morning, a very large padded envelope was delivered to the front porch, and when I saw the Chronicle Books label and felt the weight of the envelope I seriously had a moment of....really? is this my book? ...I was feeling up that package like it was a secret Christmas present under the tree....and then I tore it open......and guess what was inside?! Not the finished copy of my book, but the completed printed proof of my book! It is the final version....printed on the chosen paper......and soon thousands of them will be printed and bound! Woo hoo, I can't wait for that day! It is getting closer and closer! I stayed up late Saturday night and read the entire book from the very first page to the last page, {all 192 of them!} and when I got to the last page I finished with a great sense of " Whew, that was a lot of work and I am really proud of the finished product". I am so thankful to have worked with the best in the industry. I just thought you may want to catch a glimpse........I hope you enjoy :}
Also, this lovely little modern striped chest is another custom piece, and will be going home with the striped end tables from last week :} Aren't they a great trio? I am super excited with how these pieces turned out and the home that these guys get to live in is a super sweet and special one! I am so blessed with the best clients around! Love them.......and love what I get to do every day! So blessed beyond measure!

Over the last two weeks I have had several really lengthy conversations with a close friend about the pitfalls and disasters of not being open and willing to change. Whether it stems from a fear of trying something new, leaving something behind, loving the unlovely, standing up for what you believe in, admitting your insecurities and faults, or just plain selfishness and not seeing anything beyond yourself.......the ability to accept and initiate change is crucial. Don't run from change.......but do run from those who are not open to change!

Well, today.....all day long.....I will be at Carowinds with my family. We have been looking forward to this day all summer. It is kind of like our last "hurrah" before my daughter starts school on Monday! {I absolutely cannot believe school is starting. This summer has flown by! Whew!}I love roller coasters.....but as I get older I am not sure how much they love me anymore! I am just hoping I can hang with JB and the kiddos, scream my guts out, eat food that is really bad for me, and just have the best time ever! I hope I don't embarass my kids and puke, or worse :}......Game on!I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!xo,Barb
Etcetera- Peach cobbler
When I tell you that I have been dying to make a peach cobbler this Summer, I really mean it! I have meant to make one way before now, but I wanted my Aunt Patti's recipe {on my husbands side of the family} from the last time I was visiting them in Kentucky. I remember her cobbler being the best I have ever put in my mouth......and I remembered so right!
I could not wait until it cooled down, and so even with a couple scoops of vanilla ice cream I burnt my mouth on the first bite of "humongous burning hot peach slice"....but my friends......it was a glorious thing!
I swear I heard singing somewhere from the depths of cobbler land.
