mosaic pendant giveaway....
....a few weeks ago, I paid a visit to 10 central avenue studios where miss laura aiken creates, and she introduced me to these new miniature works of mosaic art that were fresh and new! I am super excited for her as she launches this new line of goodies!

meet lavina...
...y'all this piece is seriously one of my favorites! I know I say that about a lot of them, but this one just had me at hello. I bought her at an estate sale....the kind where everyone is running around with sold stickers like mad people....and she was the first thing inside the door.....and everyone looked past her.....except for me....and I couldn't get that sticker on her fast enough!
I love every bit of her beautiful detail and really struggled with not keeping this one for myself......I have my moments every now and then, and this was a long moment! As it turns out, someone else loved her the same way I did, because she was in the shop less than 24 hrs before she found a home! It makes all of the hard work so worth it to know how much she will be loved.....and imagining how great she'll look in her new space....

this week at knack....
1. hespah, lucasta, and ruby all found homes
2. i stayed in my pj's until 4:00 on tuesday...and loved every minute of it!
3. i ordered a special art tool that I have been searching for....finally! fun new projects ahead!
4. 25.00 starbucks gift card showed up in my mail box from miss"D" in new york...you are seriously awesome for being so thoughtful!
5. tomorrow we head to virginia for the weekend....and my jcrew catalog return store is calling me .....loudly
...have the best weekend you guys! I am so thankful for each and everyone of you who has stopped by this week to leave encouragement and happiness for me! you all are gemmie gems!

before and after basics: sanding 101
....today on design sponge I am using some pretty abrasive language! {wink!} Check out my post on sanding....

...it's amazing how pretty the grocery adds can become in a pinch...and how paper confetti on dresser tops is like cupcake sprinkles....
.... then rugs and boots and yarn wreaths turn this whole scenario into a buffet of goodness....
...I love when the studio is like this....it is something wonderful...and I hate to start making messes again.....but messes turn into beauties so.....let the messes begin....

...the photo shoot with Southern Living was really exciting! Jennifer and Laurey were absolutely wonderful to work with and put me right at ease. I do not do well in front of the camera, and was a nervous wreck....but after just a few minutes with Laurey, I knew everything would be totally chill....she was super fly!
It was a long day of shooting, styling and smiling but it was a vision coming to fruition for me, and that was terrific to watch unfold. It was really fun for me to be a part of the styling and direction....SL wanted it to exemplify Knack in every way...and for that I am so thrilled! I can't wait to see it all come together! Look for it in the February issue of Southern Living!
I even got to wear my pink tool belt, which was a huge hit, along with my converse tennis shoes and puffy vest ....the knack work uniform! I did however change my outfit for the portrait session, {with the special piece that I can show you in February!}, at the house and put on a little j crew and some boots to finish up!
I really enjoyed the day, and am so thankful for my husband Jon and his unwavering support and encouragement ...I adore this man! Miss Krystle was a joy to have on the shoot as well and I feel so privileged to have her as part of the Knack team!

.....miss ruby is definitely a frabjous piece of furniture, with the most beautiful detail!
...Although, there was a day that I had to walk away because my hands and arms were so tired from painting all of her beautiful detail....it is all worth it now! I hope you can see all of the love that went into her transformation...

open studios....
...the studio sparkled, and smelled of sandalwood oil for the weekend...and what a great weekend it was..."hespah" found a home, and lots of found goodness walked out the door.....including this big yellow "M"....with one of my favorite people....miss morgan :)
...but this week it is back to production mode and the smell of paint!
...I will be sharing a fantastic before and after with you tomorrow, and then behind the scenes photos and all the deets from the photo shoot on wednesday!
