Introductions: A new color, and a chest of drawers named Philomena

philomena2 philomena3 philomena4 philomena5 philomena6 philomena8 It is no secret that I love color...I make no apologies for that. It is also no secret that there is also a place in my heart for beautiful neutrals as well. However, mixing colors, styles and textures is my happy place!I have been looking for a new color to add to the Knack line, and I wanted something in the peacock blue family. Something that was much deeper than a turquoise and more of a jewel tone. Sometimes a dark turquoise can become timeless if paired with the right things....but a lighter turquoise {for me personally} always errs on the whimsical side.......so I wanted to move away from turquoise and move towards a more rich color. My thought as I approach new colors for my furniture line are: I want bold beautiful color that is timeless and can fit into most decor situations. This beautiful jewel toned blue is one of those colors that I see fitting very nicely into any aesthetic.I love the beautiful color mixed with the bare wooden knobs....a great juxtaposition for sure! Philomena is available for sale in the Knack store and will be in the online shop later this morning.xo,Barb

Introductions: A collaborative chest of drawers named Helianthus

helianthus1 helianthus2 helianthus3 helianthus4 helianthus5 helianthus6 helianthus7 helianthus8 helianthus9I think you all will probably remember the collaborative piece named Cumulonia that I did with Annie Koelle? Well, we put our minds and hands to work again....but this time on a chest of drawers. Again, I gave no direction for what I wanted on the drawers...I just base coated and told Annie to go to town and do her thing that she does so well. When Annie brought the drawers back, and we put them in the piece....I know this sounds crazy...but I literally felt the tears well up in my eyes at how beautiful this piece turned out. I am still trying to decide how I can pay Annie for her part of this piece and bring it home to live with me forever......I love it that much.....and my husband {JB} says the first time he saw this piece in person the only word he could think of was "stunning". It really is that beautiful...and I know these pictures do it some justice...but in person it literally speaks. She is quiet and soft, enveloping you into her beauty while at the same time commanding and intentional.......and her name is Helianthus.....because she is a wildflower in the sea of prairie grasses depicted on her drawer fronts. She will be gone in a wink so you better act fast! Helianthus is available locally at the shop or in the Etsy shop.xo,Barb

Introductions: A beautiful sideboard named "Calpurnia"

calpurnia1 calpurnia2 calpurnia3 calpurnia4 calpurnia5 calpurnia6This lovely piece is one of those that had my heart pitter pattering from the moment she came off the truck! She is built like a house, has a massive long drawer across the top, storage drawers down the middle and cupboards on the sides. Another favorite part of this piece for me is that beautiful way she curves around the edges......soft......beautiful....perfect!I painted Calpurnia with milk paint and then 4 coats of water based polyurethane over the top. I finished her off with toile lined drawers and distressed wooden knobs. I am thrilled with the entire design plan of this piece.....it came together seamlessly!I am in love with miss Calpurnia, and she is available for purchase in the Knack store as well as in the Etsy shop !xo,Barb

Introductions: Turquoise buffet named "Indira"

turquoise4 turquoise3 turquoise2 turquoise1This lovely piece is heavy as a mug and full of storage. I have painted countless pieces in this style and even this color.....but I never tire of the results when using this beautiful turquoise. I chose several different knobs to go on this piece....there are many that would work....but this piece may already be headed to her forever home in MA so these knobs are the ones being considered by the client. I love the marbled wood knob with the turquoise, as it balances out the punchy color nicely. I also chose a beautiful red toile' wallpaper for lining the drawers and think it compliments the design plan perfectly. If for some reason this lovely lady does not head to MA....she will be available in the Knack store.....and in the online shop as well :} She won't be with me for very long..... as there is already one person on the waiting list hoping she does not head out.I'll keep you posted!xo,Barb

Introductions: New candles, coasters, notebooks, and wooden blocks in the shop this week.......AND

51MQgTJ2brL bag o blocks copy index sfgcoasters_shooters2

...a new furniture makeover coming later this afternoon! I know, I know....that was totally mean.....BUT, in all honesty we were painting fools last week and there are actually three pieces of furniture right on the cusp of being finished and photographed! It was one of those things where multiple processes were being completed on multiple pieces and it just made sense to wait and photograph them all at the same time. Since I have to clear the wall in the shop every time I photograph, I wanted to push through and complete as many pieces as possible and then photograph. I hope to have one of them up this afternoon.....and I broke out the turquoise again so I think you all will likey like.I am also really excited about two new shipments of product coming in this week! I will have a fresh shipment of candles including a brand new scent....vanilla bourbon amber! It smells wonderful. I get asked all the time  "what smells so good in here?" and it makes me happy that friends are enjoying these candles and embracing them in their homes.I am also getting in a few new coaster designs....{one of them pictured above}, DEcomposition notebooks { the "DE" is intentional...I promise}, and these fantastic little bags of blocks. Love the little wooden houses so much!Stop by and shop this week Mon, Tues, Wed, and Fri 9 am - 2 pm ! New product will be out on Friday.....and I will see you later this afternoon for some furniture makeover time!xo,Barb

Introductions: Lovely and low....a lady named Chelo

I have had the privilege of purchasing and performing makeovers on two of these little low chests, and I absolutely love them! This piece is low and short to the ground with the tiniest little feet....but the hidden beauty of this piece is that it is very deep and full of storage! This piece is the perfect alternative to those cheap tv stands you find in the big box stores. I find that a flat screen tv works perfectly on top of this type of piece. This piece could also be great in a mudroom, at the end of the bed, in the playroom, bedroom.....it's all good. The color is nice and neutral so that it will fit in anywhere you decide to put it.This is a custom milk paint color with four coats of polyurethane over the top for a nice polished finish. The knobs are a faceted blue and orange floral ceramic knob and the paper that lines the drawers......well, it is metallic gold snakeskin. So glamorous.... and the perfect juxtaposition for this eclectic piece."Chelo" is  was available in the Knack shop as well as the Etsy shop....but was purchased and taken to her forever home on Saturday! Woot!xo,Barb

Introductions: A black beauty named Phalidae

This little petite chest is small and perfectly suited to be used as a nightstand, end table.......or you know? That little wall at the end of the hallway that needs just a little something to catch your eye and draw you in? This is that little eye catcher.I am in the middle of working on a collection of neutral colored pieces right now and It has been a while since I have done a true black piece. I have been holding onto these beautiful monarch butterfly knobs for a while now and knew immediately that these beauties were perfect for the size and color of this design. I also had this beautiful butterfly wallpaper and so naturally it completed my plans for this piece.I painted this piece with black milk paint, and then I coated it with four coats of water based polyurethane so it has a really shiny finish over the rustic milk paint. I love the rustic mixed with the shine.....it is so unexpected and right."Phalidae" is available here locally in the shop as well as the etsy shop. She is so special, and I have a feeling she will not be with me long!xo,Barb
