#AnthroEvents
Well my friends....I am only two days away from my event + book signing at Anthropologie, and I woke up this morning so excited about it that I couldn't go back to sleep. As I worked in the studio yesterday with Kendall....my sweet summer intern....she was asking me if I was excited....and I tried to explain how I felt....which went something like: " I am so excited....I don't even know how to physically show it! When I think back to 2001/2002 when I first started using Anthropologie knobs in my furniture work, it just all seems too surreal to grasp that I will now be in the store.....which is carrying and selling my book.....doing a question and answer time +book signing!" Not to mention, there will be an area set apart where I have picked all of my favorite new hardware and tools from Anthropologie to use in your own furniture designs!I don't know what to wear..{I mean....really}...I am starting to get butterflies.....and am already praying that I don't ramble too much during the Q + A...........but seriously...this is one of those moments that I had fun dreaming about back in the early 2000's as I painted in my garage....and I am not quite sure I know how to wrap my mind around the fact that this little dream of mine is now very real. This one thing I do know......I am so thankful and grateful for all of the many blessings that have fallen on me, because I know that there are many others with talents far greater than mine......P.S. If you would like to RSVP for the book signing event please be sure to do so herexo,Barb

A little blue chest named "Carlonia"
This little chest of drawers is so sweet and wonderful with her curvy drawers and fancy details. I got her from my parents, who graciously offered her up for a special project I was working on. This very special project was my book promo video that we shot the day after the book launch party. I have been sitting on it, because I am waiting on the blog tour of my book to start which is very soon now. I can't wait for you all to see this video, and for you to literally watch as this piece comes to life!Carlonia is painted in a custom {by yours truly!} milk paint color and finished with three coats of water based polyurethane. The knobs were purchased a while back at Anthropologie and the drawer liners are from a roll of vintage wallpaper that I found in my journeys. The lovely little paper mache' bunny has sold since I shot these photos on Friday.....but I will have more animals in the next few weeks!I will get Carlonia listed in the online shop very soon....but for now she is available on the floor at Knack.Happy Monday!xo,Barb
Found Goodness: Jon Blair is the best thing that ever "found" me
Building up to the book launch....which is TOMORROW NIGHT!..... I have thought a lot about a lot of things. The time, the challenges, the people, the stretching and learning, the greatness of the opportunity, and how much I loved every minute of it.I wrote about friends the other day....friends who came alongside and made things happen even when I didn't know how to tell them how to make things happen.....and today I want to write about my husband....who was and is my rock.My husband has always been the driving force behind Knack. He not only created the Knack brand through his skill in logo identity and knowing the marketing and print industry....but he has always been my biggest fan and supporter. Jon is my partner, my best friend. There have been times where I doubted myself {the book was one of those times believe it or not} and he never wavered....cheering me on and telling me "You are crazy if you do not do this!" He is one of my biggest champions and always has been. There are times when we have not always seen eye to eye on decisions, but we always come to a mutual agreement of how things should be done.I don't think many people realize that Knack would not be here without the support and sacrifice of my husband and family. I have definitely not built this business on my own and am not autonomous in my decisions and actions. I realize that I have much to be thankful for and too many blessings to count. The picture above of Jon washing dishes sums up what I am trying to say in this post....I shot this during the book process, and the image is burned into my memory. Day after day...night after night....this amazing man took everything he could off my shoulders so that I could rest when tired, focus, and get everything done. I'm talking all of the laundry, cleaning, dishes, extra running around, being available for photo shoots, next to me in bed as I wrote, and wrote and wrote, providing constant encouragement and laughter all along the way. I could not love this man any more.....he is so special....and I thank God every day that he found such an amazing human being for me to spend my life with, to raise children with, and to grow old with. Those of you who have had the privilege to meet Jon in person know that I am not exaggerating any of this....he is truly one of a kind....and an absolute gem.As I left the house this morning he kissed me and said " You are my favorite girl".......and I laughed back..."no, YOU are my favorite!"You are my "favoritest" Jon Blair....and I love you with my whole heart.xo,Barb
