It starts with gratitude.You find the things to be thankful for (they are there, I swear) and you focus your mind and heart on those things. The rest will follow suit.Today, I am grateful for a good cup of coffee, my shrinking to-do list, and this transitional summer-to-fall season.What about you?

Sometimes choices are easy, sometimes choices are hard. Sometimes people try to make choices for us, sometimes we feel like we have no choice at all......but in the end we always have a choice, and we choose .......something.
problems = opportunity
viaWhile I was away at the beach last week I did a lot of reading. One of the books I read was called Thinkertoys and there were many brain exercises and creative thinking techniques......{ I recommend it!} ......but the overall perspective was turning problems into opportunities by changing your perspective, adding or taking away elements, and challenging the norm. I wrote a few pages of notes, and already referred to them again today....but one of my favorite quotes from the book was this : "Problems are nothing more than opportunity dressed in work clothes".You hear me? Turn those problems into solutions by rejecting passive thinking and use active thinking to generate and organize new ideas!

image via PinterestI was just having a conversation with one of my children last night, and it was an amazing conversation. A conversation about life, about that fact that we all lose focus sometimes, get off track, make mistakes, suffer consequences, experience triumph, gain clarity, and find the courage to do hard things.This quote reminds me that we are never done. We are always growing, and changing...and that is a good thing. Mistakes are going to happen, life is going to get messy.....but if we continue to desire to grow we will always reach toward light and wherever the light is, is where we should want to be.

I hear myself say this to myself, aspiring creative business owners, my children, my friends.....and it is so true! There are always new things to learn, always new things to challenge our minds with, and being open to learning vs closed minded is the only way to growth.{P.S. I just found out that this print is available for sale here.....and I really want to buy one! I have loved this print for years!}
Live with what you love
Sometimes, no matter the size.....houses are not homes......and that is a sad thing. Let your home tell your story and the story of those you love. Surround yourself and others with things that matter....and be intentional about .....home.
