This piece of awesomeness is one that I picked up from an antique dealer friend, and it has a matching short and wide little chest that goes with it, but I'll show you that goodness next week! :)
This piece, after a few days in my presence, became miss "Tilly" and she just screamed green to me. As soon as I mixed the paint and started painting, it just felt so right.....too sweet to be sour....woman of the hour, kinda right! I chose to keep all of the original knobs since they were a nice wooden knob, but decided they needed a little swipe of color love, and painted them a very pale blue.
Love this "Tilly" to pieces, one of my favorite finishes to do. Visit the Etsy shop if you would like to see more of her!
Have an awesome day today!

This piece was so hopeless in many people's eyes.....but here at knack we look at pieces like this a little differently! I'm tellin' ya...there is nothing better than taking a piece from here:
all the way to exactly right here:
I love my job.

P.S. The etsy shop will be loaded with 5 brand spankin' new pieces {including miss tildy here!} by the end of the day! Get you some!
A little peek....
Last week was a little crazy, getting back in from the NY trip, and settling into routine again! I almost got a piece completely ready for today....but it just did not happen. I should finish it today, and I will put all of the finished shots up later this afternoon or evening.
For now though, here is a peek at the color and design direction. The circles, if they stay, will be in a random pattern but the jury is still out on them. We'll see what my creative juices tell me today as I work on her.
This is why my job is so crazy good. When I am creating for Knack, everything is game, no specifications....all creativity.....it's totally the most freeing part of what I do.
The circles hit me at quitting time on Friday, so I put a few on to ponder what I thought, and who knows what direction I will go today.....but that's just all good.
Wide open baby.

Not one.....but TWO! Woo Hoo! Dude, I totally named these two "velma" and "wilma", two old girls who have been hangin together for a while now. My main reasoning is..... these gray beauties belong to my client "C", and before they were hers, they were her mother in laws.......who is 86 years old, and happens to be visiting them right now. Talk about nervous......sometimes the old school crowd curses me for painting their "fine" antiques, so I was a bit jittery. I did not want to be around when momma saw them for the first time, but I hear all went well, and all of the swear words were meant in the best way! Good news.
These were the last two commission pieces in my Summer line up, so it felt great to get them done! From here on out I will be focusing solely on my publishing project, with lots and lots of crazy good stuff going on in the studio. Wish i could give you all of the details, but I am under strict orders .....so until I can shout it from the roof tops, just know that things are rockin', and I am working my little heart out to produce something that I can be proud of and leave as a legacy for my children.......oh, and prepare to have your socks knocked off!
Have an awesome day!

Today's little number is a girl I call "Rosie". My mind has been set on doing a red and white striped piece for a few months now, and it finally came out of my mind and into reality. There is a very specific reason I wanted to do a red and white stripe, based on a book cover/movie.....and the first one to guess and figure out the name will get a treat in the mail. Just for funsies......and to see if you all can figure out how my mind works! This one may be pretty easy....but I'm going easy on you since it is your first time and all! {Wink!} I left the original hardware on this piece as well.....which is rare for me, but it fit into my vision perfectly.
Work it out peeps.......and let's see what you can come up with!
Rosie is available for purchase, and can be shipped nationwide, right to your doorstep......and my boys will even do it with a smile!
Hope you all had an awesome weekend!

Introductions....of sorts
Well my peeps, today we are going to see the before and after pictures in stages. I was working on three pieces at one time last week and at the last minute on Friday I finished the first piece, but had no energy {or fresh flowers} to stage it and photograph it! So, here is the before shot:
and I will have the after shot for you in a jiffy. My client "A" inherited this piece from her parents, and just absolutely hated the way that it looked "all brown and stuff"....... So, she asked if I could crank it up a notch and go a little french on it.....I obliged as you will see....shortly....
Also, I am still working on these two guys:
....for my client "C", and they are looking fine in their creamy pale gray amazingness. Should finish them up today, and they are the last of my commission jobs for a while. From here on out I will be very busy working on something huge, and special, and awesome....and that's all I'm going to say about that right now. { I know ...you love me.}
Oh, and if you all follow me on facebook at all....I am in the process of changing over to a new page, so please "Like" this new page if you would like to keep up with me. I will be shutting down the old page as soon as the transition starts winding down.
Thanks!

Hello all! I scooted in from the beach last night, and am still wading through laundry, seashells, and mail. We had the best time, and Anna Maria Island was absolutely breathtakingly beautiful! I am forever spoiled by the gulf beaches for sure. There will probably be a collection of furniture based on the colors of this trip.......the turquoise water, white powdery sand, pink sunsets, green seaweed, and blue sky are forever etched in my little mind.
For now though, I wanted to show you all these chairs that I finished up for a client right before I split town. These boogers were hard....hard ...hard! I wanted them to be perfect, and it took about 5 really light coats of paint, and then a final brushed on coat of brown wax to get them where I wanted. I am super pumped about how they turned out. I rarely paint with white so it was fun to whip up some white goodness for a change.
The fabric that is going on these guys is absolutely fantastic. I can't wait until everything is in place, and I can get a finished shot for you. There is a lot of pink and orange in the fabric that mimics a hand painted paisley pattern already on the dining room walls.....and there is even a little silver leaf on the walls as well. It is so gorgeous, and I am thrilled to be a part of this super creative project.
That's all for now! I have lots to get done today!
Have a super duper day!

Hello Monday morning! I hope you all are wide eyed, bushy tailed, and ready to help me out with my little desk dilemma here.
I found this fantastic desk a couple months ago, and while I am not usually drawn to such modern design, I was smitten with the lines of this piece. I love the space age feel mixed with utilitarian cool, and the leather pulls are just fantastic. My thoughts have been all along to keep the desk "as is", but as you can see it has several knicks and dings on the surface. I think a light sanding and some tung oil will do this baby a world of good, and the legs will need a touch up with black paint as well.....but that is cake.
Every time I think of painting it, I hit a wall and nothing creative comes out.....which says to me, this piece needs to be refreshed and left alone.......but what do you think? What would you do with such a gem?
I should mention as well that this piece will be staying with me, and I think will eventually land in my son's room...we are getting ready to start his room redo this week ......so keep that in mind as you give me your thoughts!
If you are wondering about the fabulous succulent gardens, and giant pot.....my super fantastic and talented friend lily wikoff is responsible for all of that goodness! If you have never checked her out before....you are missing out, and need to head over to her facebook, etsy shop, and blog.....NOW!
Thanks pals!
