I literally squeezed this little guy in last week! I was itching to paint something colorful after all of the grays and blues I have been painting lately. Don't get me wrong...I think blues and grays are totally legit, but after so many in a row I decided to be a little rebellious!  I have about four more commission jobs left for the summer, and then I will not be taking on any new commissions until after February. I will have my hands full working on something very special.
Anywhoo,  this lovely little piece, who I have named "Mildred" after my sweet Gi Gi... is colorful and fun with a beautiful mustard finish on the outside and a little blue action jackson on the inside! For the knobs I chose a ceramic print that I find super fun and playful......jury is still out on whether they will stay on her....but for now, they are my choice.
Mildred is available for sale, and is located in the Knack booth at Antiques on Augusta. Some of you may have noticed that I have closed the etsy shop for now as I will be really busy and not able to keep it fresh. Hopefully at some point I will be able to list some new things, but for now if you can't live without Mildred in your home, just let me know and I'll ship her right out to you!
Have a great Monday!

Etcetera....and another Introduction :)

Just finished this group of mirrors that have been hanging around the studio! All of them were orphaned mirrors that had been taken off dressers and chests of drawers over a period of time....so it was nice to finish them all, and hang them as a group. It never ceases to amaze me what some paint, paper, and wax can do! That's why I do what I do, and love it so much! Transformation is so powerful on so many levels.
It has been another crazy busy week here at the studio, and thankfully much was accomplished and a few things were checked off the big "to do" list. I did also manage to squeeze in a small little piece for the etsy shop, and will have it up on Monday! All of the mirrors are available for sale as well in the booth at Antiques on Augusta!
I hope each one of you has had a great week, and that you have a fun weekend ahead!

Today on this lovely Monday, I would like to introduce you all to Llewellyn. This lovely French style piece is one that my mom and dad purchased a few months back and wanted me to paint for them. I said "sure".......but then looked at it in the studio for weeks as I worked on the many other jobs that I have going on. The guilt finally got to me, and my sweet parents were so very patient with me! I am thrilled to have their piece done and safely delivered to their living room.
My dad left all of the design decisions up to my mom and I...{smart man I tell ya!...must be where I get it from! hee hee!}.....so we chatted about color and hardware and all of the other good things that come with transforming furniture. Mom wanted the darker green....I kinda wanted a lighter more gray green.....but I am so glad mom stuck to her guns because when we actually got the piece in the room, the dark olive was exactly the color it needed to be.......perfection! Mom also wanted to keep the original hardware, so we compromised and I painted over it to help it look a bit more fresh, modern, and intentional.
So sorry that I do not have a shot of this piece before I started on it. I have been forgetting to take them lately as we are painting so many......in fact, I started another piece on Friday and halfway through realized I forgot to take a "pre knack " shot! I have got to stop doing that!
Hope you all have a productive and happy day today!

Introductions

Hello, hello my friends! I hope you all had a wonderful Fourth of July and got to partake in all of the goodness that comes with such a holiday! We snuck away for a few days and spent time with the hubs side of the family....oh my, what a hoot! It is amazing that we still have all of our limbs and eyeballs!
I have had a couple of really, really busy weeks in the studio and it was great to just unplug and unwind for a few days. I am back at it again today though, and ready to tackle all of the new projects waiting for me in the studio! I only have miss Hattie for a few more weeks so I have to get it while the gettin' is good!
We finished two pieces last week, and the first one I would like to introduce you all to is "Aderyn". This piece was brought to me by miss Meredith, who wanted it to fit into her home aesthetic with a little freshie fresh look. It was a beautiful mahogany piece that had just seen better days and needed a little patching, and a little knack love. I chose a dark slate blue and and away we went! The classic shape and curve of the roomy drawers combined with the fluting and stature of this piece just make it a joy to work on......oh and the knobs for this piece are just the best! I have been dying to use them again....I mean who doesn't love a little octopus and ship action?! ME, ME, ME! They are the perfect detail for this piece!

Have a fantastic day guys!

Well my friends....these past few weeks in the studio have been just plain nutty, in a good way, but nutty nonetheless! Hattie and I have been working, working away on many custom projects... trying to cut down on the waiting list. We have not had a lot of time to work on pieces for the Knack inventory, but we did make some headway on a set of six different mirrors that incorporate a few shades of blue and different papers. Hope to have them finished up this week and in the Etsy shop.
Today however, I would like to introduce you to Erma! This is piece number three for my client Jori and this little lovely will live in the master bedroom. Erma was a mess, and needed the most repairs out of all of the pieces, so it is extra joyful for me to see this shining little beauty with a whole new lease on life. I glued, clamped, sanded, nailed and glued some more until I felt like this old girl was in the best shape possible, and then I went to town on her finish. I picked up these gorgeous glass knobs on sale at Anthropologie, and they were absolutely without a doubt intended for this piece! Love it!
Have a great Monday!

Welcome to a new week ladies and gents! Are ya ready!? I'm not sure I am .....my "to do" list is a little long...and in my mind I am still in the mountains, kayaking down the river! {We had such a great time!!}.....so it's time to dig deep and git er done!
This past week Hattie and I finished a couple  more pieces, {and started on a few more!}, and this little petite writing desk is one of them. I did this piece for a repeat customer/ friend of mine who is moving out of town and wanted to get another piece of knackage before her and the fam hit the road! She had one request, and that is that it be some shade of gray so that it would fit anywhere in it's new space. Easy peasy....coming right up! We can do some gray around here!
This poor little desk just had nothing going on except for it's great shape and cute little detail on the front. I had so much fun coming up with a plan and making this little beauty brand new again.
Check her out now! Spiffy, if I do say so myself!

Can you even believe that we are on  introduction number three for the week?! I hope I get what I am supposed to get done this week so I have one for Monday! I may be wishing I had saved one of these for a rainy day!Yikes!
Anyway, this is the second piece out of four for my client Jori, and this one is for her little boy's room. I love how handsome this piece is with it's barn red paint. The wooden knobs are ones that I saved from a previous piece because I liked their clean modern look, and they fit right in to this design plan perfectly! It is amazing to me how paint and knob choices dictate the direction of a piece. I have painted three or 4 dressers in this same style and they have always seemed so feminine to me, but this is far from feminine in its appearance.
I'm moving on to the piece for the master bedroom which I will hopefully have ready on Monday, and then I have 6 dining room chairs to get done as well.....
...we are busy, busy in the studio......

Introductions

Today is day two of three Introduction posts this week, {yipee skipee!} and this awesome pink piece is one of four that I am creating for my sweet client Jori. I am so excited about all of the pieces that are coming together for this new space and would love to get the opportunity to photograph when everything is in place. But, that will be for another day.......
Today is all about "Elnora". This chest was already white which I am typically not crazy about because I like a dark finish coming through with the distressing {blah blah!}, but with the pale brownish pink that was chosen, and the fact that it is going in a special little girls room.... it's all works just peachy for this aesthetic. I love the wide structural shape of this piece, the rounded trim on the front, and the tiny little turned short legs on the bottom holding up all of the goods! Sweet details that never get old....
I just love what I do......
