knack life :: final shoot

knackbook1 knackbook2 knackbook4 knackbook6 knackbook7 What a week it has been, and it all started off with our final styled photo shoot on Monday!Monday's shoot was seamless, a quintessential representation of the creative partnership of these five women.The locations, for example, have ranged from right here on Knack home turf, to our own homes, to the homes of generous folks around town.  On Monday, we shot first at a charming and idyllic farmhouse - complete with chickens, turkeys, pigs, and bunnies - and were able to bring Audra's (the homeowner) winning style into our shots.  We then moved on to Jessica's home, and ended the day at sunset right outside of our very own studio, next to the train tracks and old brick buildings.This constant change of scenery is emblematic of the lithe nature of this team, and the ease and enthusiasm with which they have taken each turn and interaction during this knack book 2 process.  We have learned, together, to take a vision and carry through to fruition, and that sometimes plans change and you just roll with the punches to the collective beat of the drum.It's hard to believe that this creative partnership has come to and end (for now).#knackbook2 will be here before we know it.  The only thing left to do is celebrate, and wait.

Well you all....I must start off with a confession: I WAS A TOTAL SLACKER THIS WEEK!  I had every intention of finishing some furniture for a post on Monday, but would you believe that I played hookie from the studio all week?! I can't remember the last time that has happened......but with the big deadlines behind me, and the constant push for the last few months....this week was a perfect week for me to take a break......and I totally did!
I really enjoyed my author photo shoot, and spent some time preparing for that......but the rest of my time this week was spent at home doing laundry, making smores beside my new fire pit, my son's first soccer games, my daughter's basketball games, coffee and lunch with friends and packing for our trip today to see my brother and his family in NC. It was a great , great week......and I will be ready to be back in the studio next week! I am not making any promises.....but I will try to have some furniture goodness ready to go at some point next week!
 I am really looking forward to hopping in the car with my parents, hubs and kids today and heading to spend the weekend with sweet family. It will be so good....and my sister in law who is an amazing artist, crazy thrifter, and all around creative soul.....has already told me of her plans for us.....and it is going to be so fun!
{p.s. the above photos are more sneekie peekies from the book photo shoots! I know you love me.....}
Have a great weekend friends!

Barb

Well my friends, today is the last big scheduled photo shoot for the book! I can't believe it, and am so excited! There may be a few things that need to be re captured, or more takes of this and that....but the big push, and all of the labor on the furniture is now behind me. I originally was going to create mostly new work but also include some pieces that were already done.....but I ended up creating all new work completely... never before seen....and some creations are very different from what you all are used to. It has been a lotta, lotta hard work, but I am so pleased with the furniture pieces, and am super stoked about pushing myself outside my little safety box. The photographs are beautiful, and I am looking forward to now moving into the layout and design phase where I will see my book come to life.
The hubs and I are celebrating tonight.....and I can't wait. You all know how amazing he is....and how much I love him right?! ........:)
Have the best weekend!
xo,
Barb
