Introductions: Masted ships, mustard paint, and a chair named “Argosy”

I hated the fabric and the look of this chair so much I almost did not buy it……but something in me whispered “It’s gonna knock your socks off”…..and so against my better judgement I purchased it, and brought it back to the studio! I am so glad I listened to that inner voice……because this chair paired with some mustard paint, and masted ship fabric from IKEA is in serious danger of going down as one of my favorites! I don’t play favorites ….so that is saying a lot!

I love this chair so much…….and the name is “Argosy”. “Argosy” if you please. {350.00}

  1. You did a fabulous job on the chair. And I completely agree with your comment on the IKEA fabric. It is a favorite for me as well. It has been hard to get at our store but I keep trying.

    Have a great Monday!

    • Pam….thank you so much! The IKEA fabric is so great…..it is like a linen…and it is pulled a bit…..so, so good! I hope your store gets it in soon! Hope you had a great Monday too! xo

  3. OK I just stumbled on you recently so excuse me. You are crazy!!! This chair is gorgeous. I LOVe what you did! I am curious. What caused you to name your pieces? I just started painting my own and I’ve thought about naming mine but thought it might seem cheesy. I like it, tho…adds to its character.

    • Hey Jen! Hah! I am totally crazy….and I even admit it! Thank you for the chair love, and for visiting and reading the blog!

      I started naming my pieces a couple of years into my furniture business because I noticed that artists always had the most beautiful names for their pieces….and sometimes the name captured me even more than the piece. I decided that I wanted each of my pieces to be named as well…….and I was a bit shy about doing it at first, since declaring furniture as “art” was a big step for some people…..but then it just became part of what I do…..and now you can’t separate the two! Many have followed my lead….so their must be something to it! :}

  4. Barb,
    I just ran across your site for the first time today (how I have missed it this far, I have no idea!!) and I am totally hooked. Your stuff is simply amazing, and incredibly inspiring. I saw this chair in your yearly round up post and had to keep reading to find it! I’m in love. I would have never guessed the fabric is from Ikea. Thanks for sharing your tips and tricks.

    • Hey Kelly!
      Thank you so much for reading, and for your kind words! I am so glad you are here!
      IKEA is a great source for really good fabric! I have covered many a piece in it….and just love it all!
